Emily Barton is the author of two novels, BROOKLAND and THE TESTAMENT OF YVES GUNDRON, both published by Farrar, Straus & Giroux and both named New York Times Notable Books of the Year. Her short fiction, essays, and criticism have appeared in diverse publications, such as the NYTBR, the Los Angeles Times Book Review, Bookforum, Conjunctions, Story magazine, American Short Fiction, and Poetry magazine; a long essay on “The Jazz Singer” is forthcoming in the Threepenny Review this summer. Emily’s work has earned her such honors as a Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship, a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Bard Fiction Prize, and a residency at Yaddo. She presently teaches creative writing at Yale and in the MFA program at Columbia, and has a third novel in the pipeline. http://emilybarton.com.
